Create Happy is a Community Interest Group founded by artist/educator Kirsty Kennedy and reflects her interests in art, wellbeing, sustainability and micro trade.
The company has been set up to to benefit the community of Margate through workshops, talks and events to support wellbeing, regeneration and to test, develop and pilot sustainable living initiatives within the community and with the support of a community.
The long term aim is to support regeneration through the arts but also to create a workforce with specialist skills which could be taken to other communities, thereby creating freelance opportunities.
Mission
Art & Wellbeing
Care of self precedes care of planet and engaging with the arts can support good mental health. Workshop participation can also reduce social isolation.
Create Happy is looking to fundraise to support the running of low cost classes and workshops for Margate Residents.
Sustainable living
We'd like to drive sustainable living inititaties on a local level and to enlist the support of a community to help us achieve this.
Regeneration Through The Arts
We're passionate about arts and crafts and supporting micro craft enterprises. We're also passionate about design for living and patterns of living to achieve environmental sustainability.
We'd love to work with different artists with the community to support their growth but also to extend the range of workshops that can be delivered to CT9 Residents leading to the creation of craft products or marketable skills.
Suppoting local artists & craftworkers
As artists we know the difficulties that artists and craftworkers face. Or mission is to create part-time opportunities for artists and to establish low cost studio spaces as well as opportunities to exhibit.
Inspiring Young Artists, Craftworkers and Designers
We've previously run pottery and mosaic workshops through Quarterdeck Youth Hub and will shortly run further mosaic workshops.
